We are to be intelligent and resourceful

Luke 16:8 (MSG) reads: "Streetwise people are smarter in this regard than law-abiding citizens. They are on constant alert, looking for angles, surviving by their wits. I want you to be smart in the same way—but for what is right—using every adversity to stimulate you to creative survival, to concentrate your attention on the bare essentials, so you'll live, really live, and not complacently get by on good behavior."

At first glance, this passage may promote unethical behavior or suggest that Christians should be cunning and manipulative to succeed. However, a closer look reveals that the verse urges us to use our God-given abilities and resources to their fullest potential, just as intelligent business people do.

The verse acknowledges that streetwise and savvy people have a particular advantage over those who follow the rules without questioning or thinking creatively. These streetwise people are always alert, seeking opportunities and using their intelligence to survive and thrive under challenging circumstances.

But the verse encourages us to use these same skills and abilities for good rather than for selfish gain. We are to be intelligent and resourceful, using every challenge we face as an opportunity to grow and learn, develop new ideas and approaches, and focus on what truly matters in life.

This passage is a call to action for Christians to spread the gospel and promote good causes proactively. It encourages us to use all the tools and resources at our disposal to reach as many people as possible and positively impact the world.

The passage also reminds us that living a meaningful and fulfilling life requires more than simply following the rules and being good. We must be willing to step outside our comfort zones, take risks, and use our creativity and ingenuity to pursue our goals and make a real difference in the world.

In conclusion, Luke 16:8 (MSG) is a powerful reminder that we must use our abilities, resources, and experiences to serve God and spread His message of love and salvation. It encourages us to be shrewd and resourceful in our efforts but always to do what is right and positively impact the world around us.
